Rumors say that Mavs PG for 10 days will stay in Dallas permanently.
Mavs unexpected Starter PG Yogi Ferrell is surprising everyone, and will most likely sign a new contract with Dallas. Ferrell will supposedly sign a 2-year deal to stay in Texas.
How did Ferrell reached Dallas?
The 6 ft 0 in played for Indiana University for 4 seasons, starting all the 137 games he played. He went to 7.6 PPG in his freshman year to 17.3 PPG in his sophomore year, averaging 14.5 PPG, 4.6 APG, 3.2 RPG and 0.8 SPG in 32.8 MPG, throughout all of his 4 years as a Hoosier.
After going undrafted in 2016, the PG joined the Nets for the Summer League, where he averaged 8.8 points, 1.8 assists, 1.5 rebounds in 17 minutes per game. He played 3 preseason games with Brooklyn and then was released. Ferrell later joined the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s D-League affiliate and would return to the Nets, making his NBA debut in the same night he was called, in Loss Vs Knicks. The 23-year old averaged 5.4 PPG, 1.7 APG and 1.2 RPG in 15.1 MPG while in Brooklyn
Ferrell kept be assigned and recalled to and from the D-League, and on January 28 he signed a 10-day contract with the Mavs, after being waived by the Nets and then reacquired by the Long Island Nets.
The PG started all of his 4 games with the Mavericks, averaging 17.8 PPG, 5 APG, 3 RPG and 1.8 SPG in 37.8 MPG, scoring career-high 32 Points last night in Portland with 9-11 from the 3PT line.He became just the third undrafted rookie in NBA history to have a 30-point game within his first 15 games, joining Connie Hawkins (twice) and Anthony Morrow.
