Larry Sanders will be back to the league, but where will he land?

There are currently five clubs with the best shot at landing Sanders. They are the Rockets, Mavericks, Pelicans, Celtics and Timberwolves.

Houston Rockets – The Rockets got a little scared after Clint Capela’s injury, and could search in the FA for a reserve Center, since they only have Nene and occasionally Chinanu Onuaku, as he is alterning between the Rockets and the D-League.

Dallas Mavericks – The Mavs have on their rotation Andrew Bogut and Salah Mejri for the Center position. They still have AJ Hammons, but he has only appeared in 17 games, averaging 1.4 PPG and 1.2 RPG in 4.5 MPG. As the Mavs are looking to trade Bogut they could search for a more useful resource than a backup Center. With that, Sanders would be a perfect fit to split minutes with Mejri.

New Orleans Pelicans – The Pelicans have currently 3 players who can play at the C position. They are Donatas Motiejunas, Omer Asik and Alexis Ajinca. Ajinca is mentioned in mutliple trade rumors, and since the Pelicans have a 15-player roster, he could be the one they would release if Sanders goes to New Orleans.

Boston Celtics – Despite having Al Horford, Kelly Olynik and Tyler Zeller, the Boston Celtics reportedly have interest in the Free Agent, since their were the first team to workout with Sanders. If Sanders signs with the Celtics, he will have a short amount of space in the rotation, so or the Celtics release/trade a Bigman, or Sanders will land somewhere else.

Minnesota Timberwolves – The Wolves only have Cole Aldrich as an established Center, as KAT, Jordan Hill and Gorgui Dieng can all play 4 or 5. Earlier this season, the Wolves have already lost the race to acquire Donatas Motiejunas for the Bigman position to the Pelicans, so it’s expected that they will push even harder to sign Larry Sanders.
